Small Thoughts.

When you stand on
an ant it dies.
I would always wonder why.
Where does its life go –
does it shoot out like
toothpaste?

Lifepaste.

Of course, back then
I didn’t know about
nerves and brains,
or electro-chemical
signals, sodium ions and things.

I still don’t.

It makes no difference to ants
whether I know
these interesting things
or not.
They still die when
you stand on them
